Who would have known that you can make a refreshing ice cream out of soda? I’m not sure what other sodas could turn out to be a great tasting ice cream, but I know Mountain Dew will! A couple on YouTube posted a How To Video on a cool Mountain Dew recipe. Watching them was fun and I had make one for myself.
The recipe for Mountain Dew ice cream is really simple and totally easy to follow. You need an electric mixer and some ingredients, which are detailed below. So go ahead and get them ready now and let’s make your own homemade soda ice cream.
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups Mountain Dew
- ⅔ cup of sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Kool Aid Lemon Lime flavor (optional)
For the process, just mix the heavy cream, milk, sugar and pinch of salt in a bowl until the sugar is dissolved. Then, pour in the Mountain Dew followed by the Kool Aid Lemon Lime. Kool Aid, however, is just an optional ingredient to add more color and flavor to the ice cream.
Next, wrap the soda ice cream mixture and put inside the refrigerator for at least two hours. You also need to refrigerate your ice cream bucket that you will use to stir the mixture in. Once the bucket and the mixture are both cold, prepare the electric mixer because the final step involves mixing until you get that frothy Mountain Dew ice cream.
The trick to mixing is simple. Just make sure to stir the mixture before pouring in your cold ice cream bucket. Also, you have to turn on the electric mixer as you put the mixture in to avoid getting the cream stuck on the sides of the bucket. Turn the mixer on slow speed for about 20 minutes and surprise! You now have a cold and refreshing Mountain Dew ice cream.
