If you are a chicken nugget fan (and quite frankly who isn’t?) then you got to check this out. HelthyJunkFood on YouTube delighted us with a very interesting recipe on how to make your homemade McNugget. And not only that, this recipe is actually for a giant McNugget that will surely satisfy your cravings.
First things first, you have to get all the ingredients ready before you start the recipe. You will need 1 Lb ground chicken, vegetable oil and a couple of spices and condiments for the wet and dry batter.
For the dry batter, you need 1 cup All Purpose flour, ½ cup cornstarch, 1 ½ tbsp of seasoned salt, 1 ½ tsp dry milk powder, 1 tsp granulated sugar, ½ tsp ground ginger, ¼ tsp each of ground mustard, black pepper and white pepper and ⅛ tsp each of ground Allspice, ground turmeric and cayenne.
Now for the wet batter, you have to beat 2 eggs and prepare ½ cup cold water, 2 tbsp each of cornstarch and All Purpose flour and ¼ tsp each of sea salt, soy sauce and granulated sugar.
Once all ingredients are completed, you can now start with shaping your ground chicken to a McNugget design you like. Just a reminder though. You have to ensure that it is not too thick and that it will fit your fryer too.
Now that you have shaped your McNugget, you have to freeze it overnight. The next day, you can start preparing the wet and dry batter. This is a quick process as you only need to mix the wet and dry ingredients. Make sure you do it in two separate pans. Then, get your frozen McNugget out of the fridge to dip it in the dry batter first and then to the wet one.
You also have to coat it twice and make sure to end with the wet batter. Now, freeze your McNugget again and wait for the day of your McNugget craving. Deep fry it like a regular nugget for your family to feast on!
