A woman in Canada paid $700 for a Sphynx but regrets her decision of paying that huge amount after taking the pet to the vet. Apparently, she thought she bought a cat with a rare and special breed. What she failed to notice is the ruthless scam that the breeder lured her into.

If you fell in love with felines born with unusual breeds, it wouldn’t hurt to pay $700 for them. After all, you get to keep the pet for a lifetime. So that’s really no biggie for a special breed.

However, what hurts is the fact that you will never be so sure if the breed of the animal you’re getting is legit. Unless, of course, you are an expert on animals.

This is the dilemma that Joanne Dyck got herself into when she wanted to own a cat with a rare breed. The woman, who lives in Alberta, Canada, was lured into believing that she is buying a special cat when the truth is, the feline is a victim of animal cruelty and abuse. Let’s visit the full story below.

Dyck owns a few Sphynx cats in her Alberta home. She must have loved the breed very much! So when she met a breeder who was selling a rare hairless Sphynx cat, she was nothing but willing to pay $700 for it.

Happy with her purchase, Dyck returned home and immediately introduced the hairless Sphynx she named Vlad to her kitties. However, the newcomer didn’t get along well with the others.

For Dyck, this is quite normal. She thought the new pet just needed some time to adjust with its new family.

But as days passed by, the woman noticed that Vlad is different. The kitty was so skinny compared with her other Sphynx cats.

The lady also noticed the feline crying sometimes since it arrived. When she inspected the cat’s body, she also noted some breaks in Vlad’s skin around the tail: Because of this, Dyck’s suspicion grew about Vlad’s real breed.
