Peace and harmony between rats and cats are certainly achievable. Are you skeptic about it? Well, you have to visit The Brooklyn Cat Cafe for you to see!
It’s not a surprise if you actually thought that rats and cats could not be the best of friends. After all, “Tom and Jerry” made it clear that their species don’t do well together since we were young.
Remember those episodes where Tom almost succeeded in eating Jerry? And those times when Jerry plotted a successful revenge on Tom? There’s no doubt that these two are real polar opposites.
But if you believe this stereotype among animals that implies rats and cats are not the perfect matches, then this is the day that would change your view! Apparently, a cafe in Brooklyn proved that there’s hope in creating a peaceful relationship between these two species.
Located on Atlantic Avenue, The Brooklyn Cat Cafe recruited two rats namely Emile and Remy to help them in caring for the shop’s adopted kittens. Ironic, isn’t it? Out of all the animals this cafe can employ, why rodents? Let’s visit how it all began below.
How Rats Became Cats’ Caretakers In The Brooklyn Cat Cafe
About two years ago, The Brooklyn Cat Cafe cared for a very sick feline who happened to suffer from leukemia. The cat, Ebony, was naturally not allowed to mingle with the rest of her kind in an effort to prevent others from contracting the disease.
It was very sad for anyone to be quarantined and restricted to be with friends and family. And in a few weeks of seeing Ebony sad for not being able to see other cats, the cafe runners thought of a brilliant idea. Why not look for a small animal that can accompany Ebony in this tough time of her life?
So they planned to search for a petite animal that they can put around Ebony. And it didn’t take them long to find one. They apparently saw a white rat needing rescue at the same time they were looking for a tiny species for their sick cat. Quite a coincidence, right?
