A woman in Michigan received a 7-day jail sentence following her refusal to have her 9-year-old boy vaccinated per a judge’s order. Mothers gathered at the Oakland County courthouse and paraded signs of “No Forced Shots” in support of the lady and her decision not to introduce vaccines to her son.

The safety and efficacy of vaccinations have been a long dreaded discussion between moms and pediatricians. But most states in the U.S. have already implemented a law that makes immunization mandatory in schools with a little exemptions.

For this reason, mothers who are not comfortable about vaccines due to varying reasonings could face a court order resulting from not allowing their kids receive immunizations. And this is what happened to Rebecca Bredow of Detroit, Michigan who’s now going to serve some jail time after defying a court order related to her son’s vaccinations.

Reports said that the Oakland County judge dropped a 7-day sentence on Bredow after failing to have the boy vaccinated even if she already agreed to doing so. Apparently, the mother’s attorney signed an immunization court order in November of last year. Meaning, her client should have agreed to the medical procedure that time.

However, Bredow was only given until the first Wednesday of October to have her son receive the vaccinations. But since November, the boy reportedly didn’t receive the medically allowed amount of immunizations. The boy should have received up to eight vaccines if the mom adhered to the court order.

But as per the mother, she values the health and well-being of her kid. As it seems, she feels as if her child was being forced to be immunized and she just can’t do it.

She also clarified that it is not merely a decision about vaccinations. Bredow clearly stated that she is not against them.  However, she cannot go against her religious belief.
