Who doesn’t like hotdogs? Every little kid enjoyed this yummy meat as part of their life. But how are hotdogs made?
Traditional hotdogs are said to be a mix of pork, beef and chicken scraps. The leftover meats are grated in a huge machine to come up with a mixture similar to burgers. It will then be transferred to another big machine where processed chicken trimmings, food starch, salt and other food flavorings are added to give it more taste. Wow, did you really need to know this? I think it is amazing.
Next, the machine will automatically spray water as it continuously mixes the meat. Corn syrup will be added too, which is to give the hotdogs a slight sweet taste. Then, the meat will be moved to another machine that will puree the hotdogs mix and vacuum the air.
The following procedure is to load the meat into small tubes with black stripes and line them in a rack. The hotdogs will then enter a machine that has a liquid smoke shower and cooking or baking function. The liquid smoke is said to add more flavor to the meat.
Now, it’s time to chill the hotdogs by running them into dry cold water with salt. This is important to prepare them for packing. The hotdogs will then be put in a conveyor where they will lead to a metal machine that will peel and cook them.peel the plastic tubes and cook them individually.
The black stripes are now removed with the tubes and the quality checker will make sure that all hotdogs that came out from the machine are free of stripes. This ensures that all the hotdogs are cooked. And finally, the hotdogs are are ready for final packaging
It’s amazing to see how hotdogs are made but at the same time, we have to know that these facilities that make them are cleaned and sanitized regularly. Needless to say, hotdogs are yummy if not the healthiest of things to eat. So if you are able to eat them go for it. I sure hope seeing them being made didn’t ruin it for you.
