If you’re someone like me who loves buying shoes, I’m sure you’ve got a lot of plain canvas sneakers hanging in your shoe cabinet. And if you have picked a favorite pair of sneakers, you may not be able to use the rest. Oh, that’s too bad.
But in case you are interested in transforming your old canvas shoes to colorful ones, then this is the right time! Today, I am going to share with you a DIY rainbow sneakers tutorial. Do it on your old shoes now because you will surely not regret it!
For this DIY project, you will need:
- Different colors of Sharpie permanent markers
- Rubbing alcohol
- A medicine dropper
- A pair of plain canvas sneakers
Step 1: Remove the shoe lace of your canvas sneakers.
Step 2: Start doodling on your shoes.
- Tip: You can experiment with the design using different colors you like. Also, please be reminded that the amount of ink you use will determine how much the color will spread when you do Step 3.
Step 3: When you’re done, pour alcohol on your doodled canvas shoes using a medicine dropper. This will allow the Sharpie ink to dilute and spread. See if you’re satisfied with the effect. If not, then let it dry first and pour alcohol again to allow the color to spread more.
That’s basically it! Just keep on blending the colors using the alcohol dropper until you reach your desired look.
If you want, you can also use a spray bottle and just spray alcohol on the colors for a different effect. Again, you can experiment with the design. Just make sure to do your best to outline both shoes as identical as you can.
