A cat born with a serious congenital abnormality fights everyday challenges despite being born with a pair of useless legs. For this kitty, there’s more to life than dwell on the fact that she can never walk again.
Pretzel was born from a litter of three. She had two siblings who unfortunately died due to their congenital illness. Their extremities were twisted in an awkward manner that compromises their walking. They are actually dubbed as the Twisted Kittens.
These kittens were abandoned and brought to an animal shelter in Los Angeles hours before they were born. The owner apparently asked the shelter people to put them to sleep because of their their physical deformities.
Just looking at the little kittens would make you think they would not survive a single day. In fact, the first night the litter was born, one of the kitties named Oliver Twist immediately passed away. Hopes were high that Pretzel’s sister, Carly Sue, would live the fight but she, too, succumbed to the illness after a couple of months.
But Pretzel, the lone survivor, is a fighter among them all. She has the will and determination to continue breathing even if life has been hard on her from the moment she took her first breath. A pair of useless legs can’t bring this tiny fella down.
Under the foster care of Laura Hawthorne, Pretzel continued fighting to have a normal cat life in a Los Angeles animal shelter. Despite the pain and discomfort brought about by her twisted body and extremities, the feline achieved a remarkable recovery.
But things didn’t come so easy for this kitty. According to Hawthorne, the cat’s condition was a bit overwhelming. Just looking at her twisted body would make us all feel the difficulty the feline had to go through every single day from the time she was born. And apart from her physical deformities, she also suffered from a number of medical issues.
