Imagine an alarm clock that keeps waking you up every single day. But the thing is, you don’t have an alarm clock mounted on the wall! Therefore, there’s nothing you can do to stop or snooze the annoying sound. What are you going to do?
Well, this Pennsylvania family lived with a mysterious clock that kept on sending them alarms every day. The sound was coming from the wall for 13 years!
What’s interesting is, there is no way they can stop it from making that annoying sound. The full story is quite funny, actually. Check it below.
Jerry and Sylvia Lynn lived with a mystery clock buried inside the walls of their home in Ross Township, Pittsburgh. Interestingly, the couple had to bear the ringing of the alarm for more than a decade now. And it’s all because of Jerry.
Back in 2004, Jerry needed to drill a hole in the wall for their new TV cable. He had no idea, however, where to drill exactly. This is where it all began.
Not knowing what to do, the old man thought of a very genius plan. Why not employ the sound that his alarm clock can make to help him identify where to drill? Sounds a little tricky? Here’s what he did.
First, he tied the alarm clock to a string. Next, he programmed it to sound every 10 minutes. Then, he let it run down from the second-storey air vent. Lastly, he just needed to listen to the sound from the hollow wall and drill as necessary.
What a clever plan indeed! Things were going pretty well until the clock came loose. It detached from the string and whoops! It fell on the floor – but we’re talking about the floor inside the hollow wall!
From a witty solution to an almost forever disaster, Jerry’s idea is quite fascinating to me! “As I was laying it down, all of a sudden I heard it go ‘thunk!’ as it came loose,” he explained as per a CBS report. “I thought, well, that’s not a real problem. You know it’s still going to go off. And it did,” Jerry revealed.
